At Summer House, Inc., the relationships built within our programs often grow into lifelong connections that continue long after someone transitions out of services or begins a new chapter in life. While our programs provide support, assistance, and opportunities, it is the meaningful bonds formed between clients and care partners that truly make Summer House special.

Over the years, we have seen countless examples of these lasting relationships, reminding us of the impact that genuine care and connection can have on a person’s life.

Several former clients who transitioned out of our programs years ago still choose to stay connected in thoughtful and heartfelt ways. One individual faithfully writes handwritten letters each month, sharing stories about their life, milestones they have reached, and memories they continue to cherish from their time at Summer House. These letters are treasured reminders that the support and care partnerships built here leave a lasting impression.

Two other former clients regularly email their previous program manager to share updates on how they are doing. Whether it’s accomplishments, new adventures, or simply checking in, these continued conversations reflect the trust and relationships built during their time in our programs.

The lasting impact of Summer House extends beyond the clients we support. Former employees also carry their experiences and connections with them as they pursue new goals and careers. Just a few months ago, a former staff member from Davis Summer House reached out with exciting news, they had officially earned their white coat and become a doctor. It was a proud and meaningful moment for both the former employee and the Summer House team, highlighting how the encouragement and relationships formed here continue well beyond employment.

And this is not an isolated example. Former employees often reconnect to share updates about where life has taken them and how their experiences at Summer House helped shape the careers they now pursue. In the past 10–15 years alone, at least nine former staff members have become physicians or nurses.

Even after clients and staff move on to new opportunities, the relationships remain, proving that Summer House is more than a program or workplace.
